Content Operations Lead

Location

Type
Full-time
Working with
Ari Dutilh
Goal
Own podcast operations by end of September
Apply for this role

The Solo Founders Podcast is four months old and moving fast. In that time, it has crossed 12,000 YouTube subscribers, generated 250,000 YouTube views and 1.8 million views across platforms, and hosted founders behind Browserbase, WorkOS, Chatbase, and more.

The show is more than a content channel. Guests have gone on to become LPs in our fund and join AMA dinners with Solo Founders portfolio founders. The right episode can start a relationship that matters far beyond the view count.

We're looking for a one-person production engine: someone who can shoot, edit, and clip the show end-to-end, own podcast operations by the end of September, and help run content operations across Solo Founders.

This is a hands-on craft role, not a coordination role. You'll be behind the camera on shoot days and in the edit after: multicam cuts, clips, and packaging, all in the visual language we've already built. AI handles more of the mechanical editing every month, so what we're really hiring is taste, production judgment, and a workflow that gets footage from capture to published without wasted steps.

The podcast is the anchor of this role, not the whole of it. You'll also support the broader content operation: short-form clips, YouTube, social, newsletter, and launches across the Solo Founders brand.

This is a full-time role, remote or in person in San Francisco. We care more about your taste, momentum, and evidence of making things than a conventional media résumé.

What you'll do

  • Own the podcast's weekly operating cadence: keep the guest pipeline, research, prep, production, publishing, and follow-through moving without dropped threads.

  • Shoot, edit, and ship the show yourself: run the room on shoot days, then take the footage through the multicam edit, clips, and final packaging in our existing visual language.

  • Engineer the production pipeline: obsess over the workflow from capture to publish: ingest, project templates, review, and delivery, so more content ships at the same quality without more hours.

  • Run content ops beyond the show: support the wider Solo Founders content engine across clips, social, newsletter, and launches so the whole system ships on time.

  • Find the angle and sell the idea: identify the moments people need to hear, then turn them into sharp hooks, titles, clips, and episode packaging.

  • Build the distribution engine: grow YouTube and every relevant short-form channel through consistent shipping, smart repurposing, and fast experiments.

  • Use AI as leverage: prototype better systems for research, guest prep, post-production, repurposing, and reporting instead of accepting the default workflow.

  • Close the learning loop: read the numbers, study what traveled and why, and turn every episode into a better brief for the next one.

  • Turn media into relationships: help connect standout guests and ideas to the broader Solo Founders community, fund, AMAs, and dinners.

Who you are

  • You're an infovore on startups and technology. You already know which companies, builders, and ideas are worth paying attention to.
  • You've published things of your own: video, audio, writing, a newsletter, or a project with a point of view.
  • You shoot and edit yourself, and you're fast because you've engineered your workflow to be. You're at home with cameras and audio on set and in an NLE like Resolve or Premiere after.
  • You have strong opinions about media in tech today, and you can explain what you would do differently.
  • You love experimenting and building with AI, not just talking about it.
  • You can move between creative judgment and operational rigor. The hook matters, and so does the calendar.
  • You write clearly, follow up quickly, and can turn a loose idea into something shipped.

This is the job for you if…

  • You want a front-row seat to early-stage startups, venture, and the people building in San Francisco.
  • You're interested in the media angle: how a good story earns attention and how an idea gets sold without flattening it.
  • You want real ownership and are excited to grow into running the whole system, not one narrow piece of it.

…and not for you if

  • You'd rather coordinate other people's production than pick up a camera and open the edit yourself.
  • You only want to handle post-production after someone else makes every editorial decision.
  • You need a perfectly scoped brief before you can start.
  • You chase vanity metrics at the expense of taste, trust, or the guest relationship.

What we're looking for

  • Published work with a point of view: show us what you've made and the judgment behind it. Audience size matters less than the quality of the decisions.

  • Editorial taste: you can spot the one minute inside an hour-long conversation that people will send to a friend.

  • End-to-end production craft: you can run a shoot and deliver a finished edit that holds up on its own, and you understand the whole chain from camera settings to color to the exported clip.

  • An operator's follow-through: you can run a recurring pipeline, communicate clearly, and keep quality high as the volume grows.

  • AI-native curiosity: you build lightweight tools, prompts, and automations when they make the work faster or better.

What happens next

  • Show us the work: we review your published work before scheduling calls.

  • Get the full context: shortlisted applicants receive a concise walkthrough of the role, then meet Ari to compare taste, ambition, and working style.

  • Start in the work: begin with real scope, build the working rhythm, and take on more of the system as you prove you can own it.

Where this role goes

You'll work directly with Ari and progressively take over the guest, production, publishing, and distribution systems.

The goal is clear: own podcast operations by the end of September. From there, the role grows with you: the podcast is one part of a larger content operation, and the person who builds this engine can end up running much more of it.
